Meet Fergie & Foxy

Fergie and Foxy are believed to be sisters. They were pulled from a shelter in Mississippi. The two girls were literally “dumped” at the shelter with two other dogs. They appear to be “mill” dogs.

Fergie age 4 – 5yrs. She is in the best condition. She has scars on her face that appear to be the type you see when mill dogs have spent a lot of time pushing their noses through cage bars .
She has a hole in one ear that appears to be a bite. She is Heart Worm POSITIVE.

Foxy age 4 – 5 yrs. She had toe nails that appear to have never been clipped and hung through a wire bottom cage. They are excessively long, curled and twisted. Her feet are in bad condition, with
swollen pads. She is Heart Worm POSITIVE

Both girls are very small Schipperkes, weighing in at just under 10 pounds. They are sweet little dogs and while fearful, are wanting attention and human contact. Foxy is still a bit more shy than her sister, but she is also the one with the worst signs of neglect.

Both girls have been vaccinated, bathed and are in the process of getting spayed so that they will be in the best possible health before starting treatment for Heart Worms. Fergie has typical “puppy mill teeth” She is graded at a grade 3 to grade 4, which is “medical concern” She is having her teeth addressed during her spay to avoid having to place her under anesthesia twice. They will need to be in foster care for an extended time due to the HR treatment.

The average cost of Heart Worm treatment is $900.00 per dog. Adding this to the cost of spay, vaccinations, treatment for general wounds, infection and basic health restoration, we are expecting expenses to be over $3,000.00 for just these two dogs.
Please help SRN take care of these precious, desperate girls.

Still MORE Assistance, please!
Your help is urgently needed to help SRN cover the surgical needs of a young Schip in Texas.
Night
Night is a well-loved 2-year old boy in San Marcos, TX. On Christmas Eve he slipped out the apartment door of his student owners and went walkabout before they could catch him. They spent hours searching for him until they got the call we all fear - he'd been spooked by those trying to catch him and ran out in front of a car. He was hit, and the driver simply drove away.

They rushed him to the emergency clinic, then to their vet Saturday morning. There was both good news and bad news. The good news was that no major organs nor his spinal cord were damaged. However, the bad news is both rear legs are broken - one a clean break, but the other sustained a dislocated femur, a spiral fracture, and completely ripped ligaments at the hip.

Today, he was seen by the surgical specialists needed to repair the damage. The estimate was more than any of us could imagine, much less students with limited resources. But the clinic is wonderful. Understanding the circumstances, they've reduced the cost to about half and, with SRN's help with the initial deposit, are willing to work with rescue and the young owners to pay out the balance.

Please consider even a small donation to help Stephanie and Matt see that their precious Night will be able to run and play once more.
