JELLY BEAN- Lancaster
|

Jelly Bean is a sweet little girl who needs a forever home. Jelly Bean is a puppy mill survivor who spent her entire life in a cage with other dogs. No one played with her, gave her treats, or loved her.
When she arrived at the Humane League she was placed in a foster home where she has worked on walking on a leash, playing with toys, and house training. She has also adjusted very well to the resident dogs in her foster home and she also enjoys the children who live in her foster home.
If you would like to give this beautiful girl a forever home, please contact Lori Kelley at lkelley@humaneleague.com or 717 393- 6551 ext. 231

Buddy - Lancaster

BUDDY UPDATE
HAPPY ENDING!
Buddy is in the foster home that he was first moved to back in December.
He’s a sweet boy, but has some underlying medical conditions that require continued medical care, and regular checkups, to maintain a full quality of life. He is also in the process of losing some excess weight, which we hope will help him have a prolonged quality of life. He is deaf and going blind, but has learned his way around quite well. He has made friends with the other dogs at his foster home and is becoming more active and playful each day. We believe he has the chance to continue a life of quality and happiness with the proper medical support.
He is not being placed for adoption due to his need for continued medical care, which without, would certainly degrade his quality and longevity of life. Therefore, he will remain a ward of rescue as a permanent, special medical needs member of Schipperke Rescue.net, Inc.
If Buddy’s story has touched your heart, and you have means to help, please consider helping us help Buddy and others like him through donations. We know times are hard on many and we also feel the financial strain of the current economy. If you are one those people that hard times has not affected and you want to help Schipperkes in rescue or Schipperkes in homes where the economy has hit hard, we will be grateful for your compassion.
Donations are used to help pay for vet care that is beyond the normal, such as seriously injured dogs. Donations also help feed and vaccinate Schipperkes that are in homes that have been hit with job loss or serious illness. Without this support, these Schipperke’s would lose their homes and families. Donations are also used to help us offset the medical cost of Schipperkes, like Buddy, that would otherwise face either a life of pain or illness, or face euthanasia.
If you have the ability to help, PLEASE HELP US SAVE A LIFE. No amount is too small.
Please remember, there are many ways to help save a Schipperke in need. Money is just one part of it. Rescue is always in need of volunteers to help transport, foster, perform home checks or evaluate a Schipperke in need.
If you are able to help in any of these areas, please contact us and let us know what you can do, so we can help you, help us.
Thank you for your support.
Hi, my name is Buddy,
and I am 11 yrs. young. I live with my mom who loves me very much and has taken really good care of me. Sadly, my mom recently found out that she has a terminal cancer. Her doctors say that she has only a short time left. I am hoping that we will get to have Christmas together. My mom is the lovely woman you see in the photo’s with me. I just wouldn’t take a photo without her.
I love my mom and I will not leave her. I will stay with her as long as she has.
While I worry about my mom, she worries about me. My mom worries about what will happen to me when she is no longer around to take care of me.
Mom wants me to tell everyone what a good boy I am and I that I love to go for walks and eat cookies. Mom and I don’t get to take so many walks now that she is weak so I have a little bit of a cookie belly, but once I am back to taking walks, it will go away again. I am a strong, healthy boy that just loves to love humans.
I am very dedicated and loyal.
If you are a kind loving human that would like to share your life with a dedicated, loving boy like me, please let us know. It would make my mom so happy to know there is a special home waiting for me. Knowing there will be someone waiting for me would be the best Christmas gift my mom could get.
Sincerely,
Buddy

ARBY - Memphis,
|

Hi there, My name is Arby and I am a sweet little boy. I was found running around an Arby’s roast beef restaurant, so they call me Arby. Lucky for me, they didn’t name me Roast Beef or the big monster dogs that I am living with would think I was lunch! Look at me! I’m cute! I am also a very nice boy that likes people and dogs (even the big ones). I love to run, but I don’t know when to stop all the time, so I do need a fenced yard and have to be on a leash if I am out of the yard. I would love a home of my own. It would be nice if my new home had active adults that would play with me or take me for walks. I probably would not mind an older child to share my space, but I would be happier if there were no small children. I have been through a lot and think a child under 12 yrs old might be a little trying on me.
The kind family that took me in will tell you that I am a rare find ! They would love to let me stay here, but they already have extra rescues and they think I would be better off in a home of my own.
I promise, if you love me and treat me well, I will love you and work hard to make you happy.

MOLLY - Vermont
|
|
Molly’s owner passed away, leaving her with no one take her in.
She LOVES people, and wants nothing more than a human to curl up and watch a movie with, maybe a short walk or car ride (she loves the car).
She does okay with other dogs, but would do best with only one other dog or as an only pet . She will sometimes growl at some other dogs, she's frightened of them, and will hide if possible.. She may do fine with a gentle dog, BUT will try to herd cats, so that's not a good idea!
It is not known how she will do with children, and is recommended that she not go to a home with children under the age of 15 yrs.
Molly is overweight and she's on Science Diet RD, which she loves. She's lost some weight, but has a way to go...
If you have a place in your heart for loving girl that needs a little diet control. Please contact:

KATIE - Marriottsville,
|
Katie is 1 to 2 yrs of age, Spayed and UTD on Vaccinations. While Katie is a sweet little girl that gets along well with other dogs, she has an uncertainty about humans. Katie was one of the Kentucky Project dogs, that was more traumatized by her plight that most of the other Schips that were with her. She is fearful, not aggressive. She does not readily approach humans. If picked up (once caught), she is ridged and fearful, but does bite. Katie is not fully housetrained, but is about 90% housetrained.
Katie has made a huge amount of progress in her current foster home, but is now in need of a home that has a human that can devote more time to her as an individual.
Katie needs to moved to a progressive foster home or a special adoptive home, that has a quite, structured environment, with no children. One well balanced dog in the house would be fine, However, she will be more likely to bond to the other dog, rather than the humans in the house, so it will take a bit of extra effort, if she is not the only dog.
Katie will need a fenced yard, as she is not yet comfortable with a leash.
If you think you can provide Katie with a special, patient and quite home, (foster or adoptive), please contact:
Schipfreak@schipperkerescue.net.

PEANUT - Georgia

Urgent!
PLEASE NOTE: At the time of this posting, it was believed Peanut was a purebred Schipperke. Once Peanut was picked up by his rescuer, it was discovered that he is a Schip/mix - possibly with Shar pei - that looks much like a large Schip. He is more of a medium-size dog.
We are not pulling his posting. In an effort to save Peanut’s life, his rescuer needed to respond quickly and agreed to take him in, based on his photo, which makes him look like a Schipperke. This type of situation has happened to rescuers before and his rescuer honored the agreement to take him in to safety. We are honoring our courtesy posting as a support of this rescuer’s ethical practice.
Peanut is a 1 year old male who needs a home quickly. He was living with an aggressive pit bull/cattle dog mix and is now being fostered in a duplex that also has two large dogs, one of which tends to pick on him.
Peanut is NOT altered, yet, but will be before adoption. His owner says he has had only one round of shots, but these, too, will be brought up to date before adoption.
Peanut seems to do really well with other people but he has not been around small children. He does tend to be pretty mellow and sweet and doesn't really mess with anyone. He jumps sometimes when you com in the door, but with proper training that can be taken care of. For more information, please contact jmcafee@numail.org.

FOXY - Virginia (South East)
|

Foxy was found as a stray a few weeks ago. She wore no collar and has no Micro Chip. An ad was placed in the paper for three days over the first weekend, in hopes her family would claim her. We called local Veterinarians in a radius of several miles, as well as the local SPCA and Animal control and gave contact numbers in case her family called. No one called.
While we don't know how Foxy made her way to the city streets on a dark, rainy night, or where her family is, we do know that she has proven to be a very nice girl. She does well in the house and made friends with the neighbors dog. The family that found her and called rescue has been taking care of her and thought about keeping her. Sadly, the landlord will up the rent a substantial amount if Foxy stayed, so they can't keep her.
Foxy is an adult female of unknown age. She is probably somewhere in the 6 or 7 year old range. Her teeth have been well maintained and she is being scheduled for a visit to the Veterinarian so she can be fully vaccinated and Heartworm tested before adoption.
We don't know how Foxy would deal with small children, so she will be available for adoption only to homes with no children under the age of 12 years old.
